About the artist

Christin Kern was born in Monroe, Michigan in the year 1996. In 2017 she received an associate’s degree in fine arts at Monroe County Community College, where she gained an appreciation for watercolor. Kern’s work explores the technique of improvisation while merging abstraction and realism, and her content often deals with the dynamics between humanity and the natural world. Kern received her bachelor’s degree in studio arts at Bowling Green State University in the summer of 2019 after furthering her education at Studio Arts College International in Florence, Italy.

Christin Kern has exhibited her artwork in shows throughout southeastern Michigan and has had her work published in Monroe County Community College’s annual Images Magazine. Kern is a recipient of the Center for Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Grant, and she has received awards for her work in water-based media.
